About JESTIN SEBASTIAN
Kia ora Sharon,
My name is Jestin Sebastian, and I’m from Kerala, India. I came across your accommodation advertisement on , and I was genuinely interested in learning more about your homestay.
I’m 37 years old and will be coming to Christchurch to study a one-year Graduate Diploma in Laboratory Technology at Ara Institute of Canterbury, City Campus. My course starts on 15 February 2027, and I’m planning to arrive in New Zealand around 5 February 2027. I’m hoping to find a comfortable place to stay for approximately one year.
A little about me: I’m a friendly, respectful, open-minded, and easygoing person who enjoys meeting people and learning about different cultures. For me, choosing a homestay is not just about finding a room; it’s also an opportunity to experience everyday life in New Zealand, make genuine friendships, and become more familiar with the local way of life.
I’m particularly interested in improving my spoken English through everyday conversations and learning more about New Zealand’s culture, traditions, heritage, food, and lifestyle. I would love to hear about your experiences, learn about the things that make New Zealand special, and share stories about my own culture, too.
I come from Kerala, a beautiful state in southern India, often known as “God’s Own Country.” Kerala is famous for its natural beauty, backwaters, beaches, hill stations, delicious food, and rich cultural traditions. I would be delighted to introduce you to some aspects of Indian and Keralan culture, share stories about my home, and perhaps even prepare some traditional Indian dishes if you’re interested!
I’m a genuine person who values honesty, mutual respect, privacy, and a peaceful living environment. I understand that every household has its own routines and expectations, and I would be happy to respect your house rules, keep my space tidy, and contribute positively to the household. I’m also comfortable enjoying my own time while appreciating friendly conversations and occasional opportunities to spend time together.
I have a few questions about the accommodation as well:
- Would I have access to a small kitchen or cooking facilities where I could prepare my own Indian meals? I don’t need meals to be provided, as I’m happy to cook for myself.
- How far is your home from Ara Institute of Canterbury’s City Campus at 130 Madras Street? Would it be practical to cycle to campus, or is there a convenient bus service? Approximately how long would the journey take?
I’m flexible, willing to learn, and happy to adapt to a new environment. I believe that living with a local host could be a wonderful opportunity for both of us to exchange cultures, learn from each other, and build a friendly and respectful connection.
If you feel that I might be a suitable guest for your homestay, I would love to hear from you. I’d also be happy to tell you more about myself, my studies, and my plans for coming to New Zealand.
